COVID-19 Update: 9/30/20
The latest update from the COVID-19 Task Force:
Students on campus are now one week into the newly introduced Petrel Pods, which have allowed them to expand their social circle. The campus community continues to report no known active cases of COVID-19. Still, levels of COVID-19 in the surrounding area, particularly in DeKalb and Fulton counties, remain high. Please be mindful of the spread and risk of exposure to COVID-19 in your area! Remember to wear your mask, wash or sanitize your hands regularly, social distance and practice the Petrel Pledge!

Spring semester planning
The COVID-19 Task Force has begun planning for the spring semester, and the academic subcommittee is revisiting the spring calendar. We will continue to share information in the weekly COVID-19 updates and on the COVID-19 website as decisions are made and finalized.
The Task Force continues to evaluate testing procedures for a larger on-campus population. We are gathering final details on testing plans with guidance from our public health consultants. This testing strategy will likely be a combination of conducting both COVID-19 rapid tests and PCR tests, in addition to monitoring virus levels through sewage surveillance testing, which would allow for more targeted testing across campus.
We are awaiting decisions from the Southern Athletic Association regarding return to play for athletics this spring. Again, any information learned will be shared in the weekly COVID-19 updates and on the COVID-19 website.
