COVID-19 Update: 10/14/20

The latest update from the COVID-19 Task Force:

We urge all members of the Oglethorpe community, both on and off-campus, to make plans to get a flu shot as soon as possible. Flu season approaches and will coincide with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, there continue to be no known active cases of COVID-19 among students living on campus. Keep doing your part by taking the Petrel Pledge, and get your flu shot!

Updates for on-campus residents

Students living on campus should be checking in to complete the self-health check once per day on the LifeguardRx mobile app. Completing this screening assists in mitigation efforts and contact tracing should individuals need to be tested based on the symptoms recorded. Remember that the daily check-in on LifeguardRx is required for living on campus. Additionally, no outside visitors or guests are permitted on campus at this time.

Spring semester planning

Results of the student survey to gauge preferences regarding course delivery and residence life have been collected and are being evaluated to assist with spring semester planning. This survey closed on Monday, October 12 at midnight. Finalized decisions regarding the spring semester will be shared in the COVID-19 weekly updates and on the COVID-19 website.

The President’s Council of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), reaffirmed the conference’s indication and intention to resume athletic competition this coming spring, and will once again review the pandemic conditions December 1. A COVID-19 sub-committee of the conference will continue its work on establishing testing requirements and protocols to assure that athletics are resumed as safely and as feasibly possible.

The Core Principles of Resocialization of Collegiate Sport continues to guide these conversations. Any updates on decisions made will be shared in the COVID-19 weekly updates and on the COVID-19 website.
