Flu vaccine

All members of the Oglethorpe community are encouraged to get the flu vaccine this fall. Maintaining routine vaccinations can help prevent illnesses, reduce the stress on the healthcare system, and protect at-risk populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Retail pharmacies such as Publix, Costco, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Kroger and Walmart offer flu shots at no cost with most insurance types.

Reminder of protocols for attending Heathers: The Musical

Oglethorpe students, faculty and staff may request one free ticket for Heathers: The Musical. This co-production with Atlanta-based professional theatre company Actor’s Express is set to hit the Conant Performing Arts Center stage on Wednesday, September 29 and runs through October 17. Follow this link for more information on how to claim your ticket.

All audience members must be fully vaccinated (2 shots +14 days) and be able to show proof of vaccination before attending Heathers. Proof of vaccination will be required to pick up your tickets from the box office. Actor’s Express staff will review a digital or paper copy of your vaccine record to ensure it is dated at least 14 days before the show date. Learn more about these Health & Safety Protocols.

For those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms

Remember, if you begin to experience symptoms of COVID-19, please inform your instructors or supervisor, and stay home as you monitor your symptoms.

If you do test positive for COVID-19, please follow the reporting instructions below:

  • Students who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, must report their case to healthinfo@oglethorpe.edu.
  • Faculty and staff who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, must report their case to HR Director Sandy Butler.

Any individual testing positive for COVID-19 will need to isolate, regardless of vaccination status. On-campus residents may choose to return home to isolate or isolate on campus. Residents who relocate to a temporary housing assignment on campus will have access to support services (dining, educational, etc.). Please contact your Resident Advisor (RA) or Campus Life staff for more details.

COVID-19 testing

Please remember that if you are unvaccinated or not yet fully vaccinated you must participate in COVID-19 testing when requested to do so. Students, faculty and staff are notified via email when they are selected for COVID-19 testing and must submit a valid test via the link included in the email as instructed. Students and employees are responsible for obtaining their own COVID-19 test. Both PCR and antigen tests are accepted.

Any individual who is not currently vaccinated, but later becomes fully vaccinated will then be exempt from these testing protocols. If you have become fully vaccinated and would like to update your status, please do so using the appropriate form below.
