COVID-19 Update: 10/14/21

The latest update from the COVID-19 Task Force:

Thank you again to the entire Oglethorpe community for your commitment to our COVID-19 policies. There are currently no known active cases among the Oglethorpe community. While cases have been extremely low throughout the semester, we ask everyone to remain vigilant in practicing the Petrel Pledge so that this trend continues. Face-coverings are still required indoors on campus, unless you are alone in your office or room, or while actively eating or drinking.

Please continue to follow the policies outlined in the COVID-19 Handbook and review these weekly updates so that you know what to do if you are exposed to COVID-19, experience symptoms or test positive. We continue to remind the community of several COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites near campus.

Flu vaccine

The COVID-19 Task Force strongly encourages all members of the Oglethorpe community to get the flu vaccine this fall. The Office of Student Wellness still has several flu vaccine vouchers from Costco for students. Please fill out this form to request one of these vouchers.

Maintaining routine vaccinations, such as the flu vaccine, can help prevent illnesses, reduce stress on the healthcare system, and protect at-risk populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Retail pharmacies such as Publix, Costco, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Kroger and Walmart offer flu shots at no cost with most insurance types.

Heathers: The Musical closes soon

Heathers: The Musical runs through October 17 at the Conant Performing Arts Center. Oglethorpe students, faculty and staff may request one free ticket for Heathers: The Musical. Follow this link for more information on how to claim your ticket.

Please note the protocols for attending this show. All audience members must be fully vaccinated (2 shots +14 days) and be able to show proof of vaccination before attending. Proof of vaccination will be required to pick up your tickets from the box office. Actor’s Express staff will review a digital or paper copy of your vaccine record to ensure it is dated at least 14 days before the show date. Learn more about these Health & Safety Protocols.

COVID-19 testing

If you are unvaccinated or not yet fully vaccinated, you must participate in COVID-19 testing when requested to do so. Students, faculty and staff are notified via email when they are selected for COVID-19 testing and must submit a valid test via the link included in the email as instructed. Students and employees are responsible for obtaining their own COVID-19 test. Both PCR and antigen tests are accepted.

Any individual who is not currently vaccinated, but later becomes fully vaccinated will then be exempt from these testing protocols. If you have become fully vaccinated and would like to update your status, please do so using the appropriate form below.
